ART DECO BRONZE CATCHALL / MEDAL - PIERRE TURIN
The composition features a winged allegorical female figure holding a branch and a banner, surrounded by the Latin motto (“Providence helps / favors”). Around the border are dates in Roman numerals, corresponding to the years 1881–1956.
The whole piece creates a strong and solemn iconography, typical of the Art Deco vocabulary, evoking protection, foresight, and the future. The piece is designed as a high-relief medal mounted as a catchall tray, with four feet ensuring perfect stability. Beautiful, nuanced, uniform, and aged brown patina.
