Hettier & Vincent Muller Brothers Lustre Art Deco Bronze And Graved Tulips

  

Very elegant and authentic chandelier or bronze suspension with three lights and engraved glass tulips, as it was marketed by hettier & vincent in the early 1930s. It is referenced in the general catalogue of the Paris lighting company under the number 7259 (photo 6). It measures 71 cm in height, 44 cm in width and weighs 4.3 kg.

Presented in catalogue with tulips with hortensias of muller brothers, this high-end chandelier is here equipped with three engraved glass tulips whose decoration corresponds to that of bronze. These glasswares bear the double signature muller brothers luneville and hv for hettier & vincent. The grace of this perfect- proportions mount, whose three long falling arms cling to a central pavilion decorated with spirals, is immediately grasped.

All parts of this frame are original and are found there the matrix chain, terminal (photo 2) and the tube cover (photo 3) which are recurrent elements of the h&v luminaire. The bronze is in perfect condition and some of the elements are chiselled.

This chandelier frame is a "basic" of the hettier & vincent catalogue that has had a strong commercial success. Many other manufacturers of this era Sen are inspired to produce similar models, but without achieving this aesthetic perfection.

The six-sided pressed glass tulip was exclusively created by muller brothers for hettier & vincent. Its hexagonal structure echoes that of the mount which also has six faces on its three pavilions including the shroud. The spiral decoration is made by hand, it is engraved with acid on each side and patinated in the hollows (photo 4). These three tulips are in good condition with ginnings at the points of contact with the casings, these small defects being not visible because masked by the sockets. This chandelier has been completely rewired with new wire, the sockets are baionette b22 brass.
