Model listed in the manufacturer's period catalog, it is not a winding. Elegant suspension of the 1930s in four-arm nickel-plated bronze, which hangs four globes in moulded-pressed tinted glass signed muller brothers. Made by the factory of henri petitot lighting fixtures, whose headquarters were rue du verte-bois, near the Place de la République à paris, this suspension was then proposed in version four or five globes. It is presented in the manufacturer's general catalogue dated 1931 under #1109 (photo 6). Made of solid bronze, the frame features a superb chiffon mask with stylized vegetal decoration (photo 2) on which hangs the three arms of suspension that reproduce the braiding of cords.
A lower central stem makes it possible to hang the fourth globe below the other three. This suspension has the peculiarity of keeping the globes thanks to an ingenious claw model that blocks the glassware inside with three side screws (photo 9).
The use of globes without collars is above all an aesthetic choice of petitot which thus creates an aerial suspension effect by avoiding the use of external galleries. Several elements of this frame bear the initials ap (photo 4) in homage to antonin petitot, father dhenri and founder of a dynasty dedicated to the luminaire dart. The stylized globe with muller brothers peacocks is a great classic of art deco lighting. It is found on the lighting appliances of many manufacturers of this period as maynadier stone, gillstone or marcel vasseur. Here in a pink tinted version with a selective depolishing, these glasswares are signed with acid at the neck (photo 12) but also in the mould at the lower end. Contrary to a popular idea, pressed glass tinted in the mass of the 1930s was more rare and expensive than white glassware. Thus the manufacturers of that time applied an added value of about 25% to the price of glass when it was coloured. These globes are in very good condition with some ginning at the points of contact of the collars. This suspension measures 73 cm in height and 34 cm in width for a total weight of 4.2 kg. It has been recaptured with new wire and is equipped with four brass b22 bayonet sockets (photo 9).Any total or partial reproduction of the text and/or images of this ad is strictly reserved.
