G. Viarmé Pair D Appliqués Art Deco Bronze Chromé And Pressed Glass 1930
The Viarmé establishments installed rue du chemin vert à bets at the beginning of the twentieth century to produce lighting appliances for gas and electricity. It was at the turn of the 1920s that georges viarmé moved to 156 rue de la aruquette, in this district of the bastille where bronze lighting manufacturers abounded. Its cartridge still decorates today the building that it occupied: we distinguish, just above the door, the letter v superimposing itself to ets for " viarmé establishments" in a very art deco ornamentation. This authentic pair of chromed bronze and pressed glass appliques, of curved shape, unfolds in width. The frames are nickel-plated and then chromed. They receive two pressed moulded glass plates with a geometrically decorated central area with a granular surface, while the lateral areas feature a smooth-surface, stylized floral decoration with selective depollution. Like all the tanners of his time, viarmé did not himself produce the glassware he used for his lighting appliances and it is unknown who made this exclusive model that bears his signature.
The plates are signed in the "viarmed" mould (photo 6) and are in perfect condition. The chrome of the mounts is the original one and it has retained all its integrity. The fastening bars on the back are pierced with two holes for fastening to the wall.
These appliques are equipped with nickel-plated brass bushings with bayonet b22 and electrified with new wire. They are 18 cm high, 24 cm wide, 6 cm protruding and weigh 0.7 kg each. They're ready to be plugged in and light up.
