Eliot-Verrerie des Hanots: Art Deco chandelier in silvered bronze and molded-pressed glass. The chandelier offered here for sale is a product of the Old Louis Eliot Establishments, whose headquarters and significant workshops were located in Paris between numbers 19 and 25 of the Charles-Dallery passage in the 11th arrondissement. The structure consists of a central piece with three richly decorated arms based on a stylized floral theme. A central faceted stem and a richly decorated baffle also follow this floral theme. Each socket features the specific socket covers of the fixtures from this house.

Other parts of this chandelier are also used multiple times by the manufacturer in its lighting fixtures, such as the baffle and the connecting ball. The luminaires from the old Eliot house also have the particularity of often lacking hollow conduits (rods) for passing cables through the branches. A routing with guides is always present. The monogram used by Louis Eliot was an "E", a monogram taken over by his successors.

They are not always visible in all of his luminaires. The glasswork consists of four tulips made of frosted white molded-pressed glass, never marked by the manufacturer, but which correspond to the production of the Verrerie des Hanots (Holophane), whose name "daisy" is given in a manufacturer's catalog (see images nos. A basin with the same decorations is paired with these tulips.

The lighting glassware from the Holophane company, which had its factory located in Les Andelys (Eure department), was signed under the brand "Des Hanots", and they are often marked in the moldings. This signature is not systematically found on all models as is the case for the tulips presented here.

The four light points have a B22 bayonet socket. At the end of the 19th century, a little before 1898, Eliot took over the old merged houses "Lallier & Octrue" and J. Sevestre & Cie, manufacturers of lighting and gas heating devices located at 11 Passage Charles-Dallery.

With successes and various awards won at different salons, in 1905, Eliot expanded his business and became the official supplier of the city of Paris. In 1922, Eliot sold his company while retaining a portion of the shares. This is when the Société Anonyme des Anciens Établissements L. Eliot, heating and lighting devices, was born, of which Louis Eliot was part of the administration. In 1929, the company went bankrupt, and the business assets of the manufacturing company were to be sold at public auction.

However, the company continued to exist until its liquidation in December 1932. In 1935, it still appeared at the same address in "L'Annuaire Industriel." Dimensions: 68cm (height), 44cm (width), 4.4kg (weight). Electricity has been completely redone. "All the luminaires sold on our site have been restored by us in the strictest tradition of preservation and without any remarkable alteration of the original object. Many hours of hand work were necessary to accomplish their renovation. All the elements are genuine, only the electrical work has been completely redone to meet actual norms but always keeping the original sockets, which are often for a lamp cap B (bayonet bulb).

The bulbs are not provided with the sale. For shipping, the glass parts, tulips, basins... are sent disassembled for better protection, as well as (depending on the total size) some parts of the luminaire. All our shipments are very secure. TOTAL OR PARTIAL REPRODUCTION OF THE TEXT AND/OR IMAGES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
