Very beautiful and vibrant bronze bust by Villanis representing Diana the Huntress. In bronze based on the model by Houdon, from the late 19th century. Diana the Huntress is originally a Latin goddess with power over procreation and childbirth, as well as hunting and sovereignty.

Her most important sanctuary is located in Aricia, which also served as the center of the Latin confederation before Rome took the lead. She early on became the goddess of hunting and the moon in Roman mythology, after being assimilated to the goddess Artemis from the Greek pantheon during the lectisternium of 399 BC.
