Louis botinelly, born to dignity on January 2, 1883, was the son of a marbrier and stone tailor, originally from the canton of Ticino (Swiss) and established in that city at the time of the birth of louis. The family then moved to Marseille, rue saint-pierre, in a workshop inherited by the father of botinelly on the death of his brother.

Thanks to a bursary in the city of Marseille, Louis botinelly was able to stay in italia in 1902 where he worked in the coutan jules workshop. In 1905 he was first received at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. He moved to the capital in 1906, where he made a large number of his works.. in 1911, he obtained a bronze medal for his bear trainer.
