Authentic wall sconce from the 1930s featured in the manufacturer's period catalog (photo 6). A very elegant pair of Art Deco wall sconces with two arms in bronze by Adolphe Bloch, equipped with molded-pressed glass tulips signed J.

This model of sconce can be found in Bloch's catalog, undated but likely published between 1925 and 1927, with reference 543 (photo 6). They measure 28 cm in height, 26 cm in width, 13 cm in projection, and weigh a total of 2.4 kilos. Although he remains relatively unknown among enthusiasts, Adolphe Bloch was one of the most important manufacturers of Parisian lighting fixtures. The Adolphe Bloch workshops were located at numbers 7 and 9 on Cité Popincourt in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and these buildings still exist today. The backplates of the sconces are stamped with the monogram AB for Adolphe Bloch (photo 10).

They are richly decorated with stylized floral and plant motifs in a very characteristic Art Deco aesthetic (photos 2 and 4). The two parallel arms are made of square tubing, and two openwork side rings allow for optimal mounting. The four tulips with scalloped edges are made of frosted molded-pressed glass with re-polishing on the raised reliefs (photo 3). Robert (photo 8), named after Rue Jean Robert in Paris where the headquarters of Établissements Jean Gauthier was located, and the production factory for glassworks was situated in Ezanville in the Oise. Gauthier was one of the most important producers of lighting glass in the interwar period; his models were used by most French lighting manufacturers.

These tulips are in very good condition, with minor chips from use at the points of contact of the collars. The sconces have been re-wired with new wire and are equipped with brass B22 bayonet sockets. They are mounted against the wall thanks to a support bar placed at the back (photo 11). They are ready to be installed and illuminate. Any total or partial reproduction of the text and/or images from this announcement is strictly reserved.
