L. Hugue Et Degué Suspension Art Deco Bronze Nickelé & Globe Pressed Glass 1930

  

Created in Paris in October 1913, the Hugue Léon lighting company will remain active until the beginning of the Second World War and will produce for more than twenty years a large number of luminaires that will cover the classical and art nouveau period and then the art deco and modernist period. This nickel-plated bronze and pressed glass globe suspension was produced in the early 1930s and is 66 cm high for a total weight of 3.7 kilos. Composed of all its original elements, this high-end suspension features an elegant frame with a smooth hexagonal sheath cover. The three arms, soberly decorated, hold a suspension ring in which the glassware is inserted. This frame is struck by the monogram hl for léon hugue (photo 6), elements of decoration.

The globe comes from compiègne crystals. Made of moulded-press glass with a stylish floral decoration, it is never signed. It is presented in the decadre catalogue under reference 506 and is called the "paquerette dome" (photo 12). To achieve such a finishing result, the compiègne crystals had installed sophisticated mechanical presses that allowed for the presentation of very neat parts with no defects.

All of the models produced included fine-sand depolished parts, and relief parts with a brilliant radiance obtained by using the cork wheel size and polishing. This globe is 17 cm high and 20 cm in diameter and in perfect condition. The suspension has been rewired with a new wire, a ram in the pavilion allows the hanging to the ceiling. The socket is made of nickel-plated brass with bayonet b22. Foreign customers : the old french b22 bayonet sockets can be replaced by new e14 screen sockets.
