The schneider glassworks were active from 1913 until 1938, when they were put into bankruptcy. The success in france and abroad of the pieces produced by this glass factory was closely linked to the artistic genius of charles, assisted by his brother ernest who was in charge of marketing. The peak of this glass adventure was reached with the models signed " charder", contraction of charles schneider, and especially "the French glass".

Multicolored schneider lighting glassware is regularly emerging in the antique market, but more rare are the monochrome models. This large basin is in glass lined with an inner powdery layer, dyed in plum color mass, and an outer layer of colourless glass. The decor, with curved central lines, is surrounded by a crown of pellets and is engraved with acid. It bears the double signature engraved at the tip "Charder the French glass" (photo 6) which characterizes the pieces produced from 1929, in the middle of art deco period. If the schneider glassworks had their ironworks, in which lamp and chandelier frames were made, they also supplied glass lighting to many bronzemakers who assembled these luminaires with their own frames. The one who suspends this magnificent glassware is struck by the monogram al (photo 9), but it is not possible to identify the manufacturer. It is composed of a superb slotted cowling pavilion, with a long central finish (photo 2), which holds three arms with three segments connected by rings (photo 7). The three clamping buttons (photo 4) take over this geometric decor. All of these nickel-plated bronze elements feature smooth and chiselled areas, a attention to detail that characterizes the quality of this high-end lighting device.

The suspension is 64 cm high for a total weight of 6.8 kg. The bronze frame, of which nickeling is original, is in very good condition.

The basin is 46 cm in diameter and is in perfect condition. It has been rewired with new wire and is equipped with three b22 bayonet sockets made of nickel-plated brass. Foreign customers : the old french b22 bayonet sockets can be replaced by new e14 screen sockets. Any total or partial reproduction of the text and/or images of this ad is strictly reserved.
